Marquee Tool

Using the shortcut 'M', you can access the Marquee Tool,

Rectangular Marquee Tool - Allows to create Rectangles

Elliptical Marquee Tool

Transforming Selections

Scale - CTRL+T then hold SHIFT

Rotate - CTRL+T then placing the mouse to the comer of the selected area, 

Skew/Distort - CTRL+T then hold SHIFT+ALT,

Perspective CTRL+T then SHIFT+ALT+CTRL while dragging

Saving and Loading Selections

To save a selection go to the menu bar and hover over 'Select' then on the drop down menu
'Save Selection'

These selections are saved as Alpha Channels

To load a selection go to the menu bar and hover over 'Select' then on the drop down menu 'Load Selection
